Bench Warrants

The Sheriff's Office is responsible for all of the Bench Warrants issued by the Court of Common Pleas. These include warrants issued for failure to appear in criminal cases, domestic relations warrants and warrants for violation of Probation or Parole.

Warrant service is one of the more dangerous functions of the Sheriff's Office. Through training and exercising caution Deputy Sheriffs attempt a successful apprehension.

If a defendant has a bench warrant issued for their apprehension, assigned deputies investigate their last known address, place of work and any number of family members or friends. If a defendant knows there is a warrant for his arrest and surrenders, every effort will be made to have the defendant taken before the issuing Judge to resolve it.
